How to choose the right family villas in Bali – your guide to the perfect family holiday

So you chose Bali for your next family holiday. Great choice, mums! Bali is wonderful, exotic, diverse and great for families with kids!

From the beaches to the rice paddy valleys, the waterfalls and the mystical temples, there are plenty of family-friendly things to do?around the island and there are more than a handful of fantastic family villas all around the island. How to find?that perfect family villa in Bali for your family? We?ve put together a?handy guide to finding your family villa in Bali.

1: Chose the location of your island home

The first thing you need to think about is?where on the island you want to stay? In the heart of the?action (Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud), a bit more quiet and?laid back (Sanur, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua) or somewhere?remote?(Candidasa, Amed, Lovina, Pemuteran)? Are you a beach lover? Do you love snorkelling and diving? Do you want to learn how to surf or tweak your skills? Coming to see the temples and the?Unesco World Heritage sites? These are all questions you need to ask yourself in order to find the perfect location for your family villa. The good news is, Bali is only a small island and there aren?t any places where you won?t find a beautiful family-friendly island home. You can also take your kids to see several places. This way, you get to see different sides of our beloved Bali Island.

2: How big is your group?

Whether you are a couple travelling with a newborn or you?re coming with the entire family, it really doesn?t matter – you can always stay in a fabulous private pool villa anywhere you like. There are intimate 1-bedroom villas, cozy 2-bedroom holiday homes, 3 and 4 bedroom family havens and it goes up to 8+ bedrooms to accommodate all kinds of families and groups. Do note that it?s common for big villas to offer smaller bedroom configurations. That means a 4-bedroom villa can accept 2- or 3-bedroom bookings. The extra bedrooms will be locked and the villa is still private for your family. So in case you find a villa that you absolutely love, but it?s a bit bigger, don?t worry.

3: Your preferred Villa style

When you have decided on the location(s) of your family villa(s), it is time to think about?the type of family villa you are after. There are?modern ones with AC in the living room?but also traditional ones with breezy open-plan living rooms or even traditional teak wooden Javanese houses?exuding old-age charm. Or how about a traditional home in Seminyak and a contemporary hilltop villa up in the north or in the southern tip of Bali? Everything is possible as long as they are family friendly and there are plenty! (oh, and all have got a private pool, of course! – what more do kids need?

4: Child-friendly facilities

You may or may not believe it, but some Bali Villas are designed especially for families with kids. There are cool family-inspired villas with bunks, toys, books and expansive gardens with shallow wading pools for kids to safely splish, splash and play (in addition to the main pool). Some villas also feature TV rooms with state-of-the-art equipment or game rooms with game consoles or board games. Most villas have the possibility of setting up a pool fence or the staff can assist in renting a pool fence to keep your little ones safe at all time. Baby cots and high chairs are always available and sometimes they are included in the rate. Of course, the child-friendlier, the better! Always inform what is included and what is possible at the villa of your choice or get a villa consultant to track down the best family villas and arrange it all for you way before you land on the island.

5: Services: experience Balinese Hospitality

How important is it to be welcomed with warm Balinese hospitality? Friendly smiles, personal care and attention and perhaps you want to spoil yourself with a private chef and driver? (ask the staff or your villa consultant to arrange a baby car seat if needed). It is all possible! The staff can arrange just about everything for you including amazing nannies to look after your little ones when you are going out for dinner in the evening. Once you get your taste of Balinese hospitality, you?ll never want to go anywhere else. Plus point: Balinese people absolutely love kids!

6: Your holiday budget

Not unimportantly, you need to find a villa that matches your holiday budget! Surely having a private driver, chef and nanny comes with a certain price tag! Luckily, there are beautiful family villas in all price categories. Are you on a small budget? Your kids will adore having a private pool and all villas come with a private pool. Baby equipment is always available for rent and the villa?s staff can always help to hire a good nanny. Looking for something more high-end? You can make it as crazy as you want. There are even villas got tennis courts, spas, helipads and more insanely luxurious facilities onsite. Discuss your budget preferred location and you can be provided with a list of gorgeous family villas that suit all your requirement. You?ll be amazed!
